1940 – Multnomah Falls

1940 – Multnomah Falls

Oregon - 2008; The cliff at Multnomah Falls exposes six layers of basalt lava flows that poured west from Hells Canyon and down from the Cascade volcanoes. The Cascade Volcanoes are part of the “Pacific Ring of Fire”, the ring of volcanoes and associated mountains around the Pacific Ocean. Fed by underground springs from Larch Mountain, Multnomah Falls, a 611-foot-tall roaring cascade of icy water, drops gracefully into the Columbia River.
