2950 – Tree and Rock

Utah - 2009; Navajo Nation's Monument Valley Park is home to some of the world’s most majestic rock formations. The area was transformed over hundreds of millions of years as erosion from meandering rivers carved the valley and deposited layer upon layer of sediment, elevating the basin into a plateau. Sandstone masterpieces that tower at heights of 400 to 1,000 feet take on a life of their own as the rich colors of the sky and rock change dramatically throughout the day. This formation, known as “Ear of the Wind,” proves to be a dramatic backdrop for this stark tree and crystal blue sky beyond.
