754 - Geese Everywhere

Bosque, NM - 2011; At the Rio Grande River in New Mexico, there are 3,800 acres of active floodplain and an additional 9,100 acres that are managed by the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. Here, water is diverted to create extensive wetlands for wintering waterfowl and cranes. Early in the morning, hundreds of thousands of geese take off to feed on left-over grain in nearby fields.
